Have you ever tasted Dominos Garlic Bread Sticks, who doesn’t. My family loves these bread sticks. But Domino’s steadfastly refuses to deliver anything unless you order a pizza first. And tired of ordering a pizza every time as we are not very fond of their pizza I decided to make my own garlic bread.I started searching a good recipe for these and find this on the net. I experimented with yeast and finally made it using fresh yeast. It was perfect and delicious too.
Fresh yeast 20 gms
Water 1 cup
Sugar 1tbsp
Flour 3 cups
Olive oil 4tbsp
Salt 1tsp
Crushed garlic 1tsp
Butter 2tbsp
Italian seasoning 1tbsp
Grated cheese 1/2cup

Melt butter add crushed garlic and keep aside for later use. In a mixing bowl mix together lukewarm water, yeast and sugar and keep aside for 10 minutes to frothe the yeast. Now mix 2 cups of flour and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until well blended. Cover and keep aside on a warm place to rise. After about 1-2 hrs. (Depending on the weather) it is almost double in the size. To this sponge add remaining flour, salt and half the garlic paste and knead the flour to a smooth dough. Again keep aside covered in a warm place for an hr.
Grease a baking sheet with olive oil. Preheat the oven at 200C. Divide the dough into two and roll each on a floured counter top into a circle.Top with grated cheese and rest of the garlic paste. Fold the each into a semi circle shape. Transfer to the baking sheet spacing between the two. Smear the top with olive oil and Italian seasoning. Mark into strips with the help of a pizza cutter. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove and serve hot.
The bread looked and tasted “almost” like Domino’s. I simply pour olive oil and top up with more seasoning as Domino’s does.
