Here is my easy homemade pie crust which could be used for both savoury and sweet pies. It is my favourite and one of the perfect crust I made with fresh herbed savoury quiche and with summer fruit fillings. image
All purpose flour 1&1/2 cup
Unsalted butter 1/2 cup
Salt 1/2 tsp
Iced cold water 1/4 cup
Combine flour and salt very well. Add chilled butter and mix lightly until looks like bread crumbs. Add water and mix to form a dough. Wrap in a plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hr.
Place the dough on a floured surface and roll1/8″ thick and 10 ” round. This dough is sufficient for 9″ pie. Carefully transfer the disc to a 9″ pie dish, easing it into the bottom and sides by gently pressing with your fingers. Trim the extra dough from the rim. You can cut out decorations from the leftover dough.
Use this crust for your favourite pie or quiche.With the same recipe you can make small tarts also.
Always use cold butter and chilled water. This quantity is for a single crust. You can double it as per your recipe’s requirement.
