Whenever we think of preparing a snack usually a fried one comes to our mind. But now people are more health conscious and they prefer either steamed, grilled or baked snacks with less oil or butter.So I made this tasty and delicious pizza sticks at home.This is a hot favorite at kids and teenagers party, these can be served as starters or even as tea time snacks.
Flour 450gm
Dry active yeast 1 tsp
Sugar 1tbsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Butter 20gm
Water 200ml(Luke warm)
Dry herbs 1 tsp
Red chilli flakes 1/2tsp
Grated cheese 1/2 cup
Fresh basil 1tbsp
Melted butter 1tbsp
Combine sugar yeast in lukewarm water and keep aside for 10 minutes to activate. When small bubbles appears on the surface then it means the yeast is ready to use. Mix flour and salt in a medium sized bowl and make a well in the center.Pour the yeast mixture and mix well. Add melted butter and knead to a soft and smooth dough. Cover the dough with damp cloth and keep in a warm place till double in size.It approximately takes 1 -1 1/2 hr. Punch down the dough and knead for a minute. Now roll the dough as thin as possible and apply a tbsp of melted garlic butter and sprinkle dry herbs of your choice,red chilli flakes. basil leaves chopped and little grated cheese.Now cut into irregular strips and bake in a preheated oven at 190c for 12-15 minutes or until crisp.
