Fenugreek leaves chopped 1cup
Ginger chopped 1tsp
Garlic chopped 1 tsp
Green chillies chopped 2
Tamarind paste 1 tsp
Onion chopped 2
Tomatoes chopped 2
Chicken 1 medium or 600 gm cut into 8 pieces
Salt to taste
Ginger, garlic paste 1tsp
Lemon juice 1 tbsp
Curd 1/4 cups
Garam masala 1tsp
Green chillies chopped 2medium
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Dhansak masala 2 tbsp
Brown onion for garnishing 1/4cup
Chopped coriander leaves 1/2 cup
Method:
Soak all the dals in plain water for 2-3 hrs. Marinate chicken with curd, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt ,turmeric powder and coriander powder either 5-6 hrs or overnight in the refrigerator.
In a pressure cooker sauté onions with 2 tbsp oil till golden brown. Add rest of the ginger garlic paste, green chillies and tomatoes. Cook for 8-10 minutes. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and coriander powder. When it is cooked properly add veggies. Cook further for few minutes add all the pulses stir and add water and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.Switch off the flame and let the pressure release itself.
In the mean time cook chicken separately. Take a heavy bottomed pan put 2 tbsp oil add chicken with all its marinade and stir for a while.Cover and cook on medium flame till chicken is soft and tender and it leaves oil.
Now open the cooker and blend all the pulses and vegetables with hand blender till smooth.
Put this mixture on slow flame add dhansak masala, tamarind paste, and cooked chicken. Let it simmer for 8-10 minutes. Check the seasoning and the consistency. Add lemon juice and transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with fried onions and chopped coriander.
