Here comes the winter and a lot of fresh greens.Hold on a good bunch of methi(fenugreek leaves) and sweet green peas and could not resist making my favourite methi malai matar.No doubt it is high calorie food but sometime it is necessary to rejuvenate your tastebuds by purely indulging in these rich, delicious delicacies.
Methi (fenugreek leaves) 250gms
Fresh green peas 1 cup
Onion chopped 2 large
Ginger chopped 1tsp
Garlic chopped 1 tsp
Green chillies chopped 2
Milk 1/2 cup
Malai 1/2 cup
Cream 100 gms
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder 1tsp
Kasoori methi 1/2 tsp
Cardamom powder 1tsp
Cashew nut paste 1tbsp(optional)
Salt to taste
White pepper powder 3/4 tsp
Garam masala 2/3 tsp
Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Oil 2tbsp

Put onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies in a pressure cooker with a cup of water and cook till 2 whistles. Keep aside do not open it Let the pressure release itself. Now mash it or blend it with hand blender. Put 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and heat it add cumin and let it brown. Add this paste and cook till all the water evaporates and well cooked add fenugreek (methi) leaves, kasoori methi, salt, coriander powder and peas.Stir well and you can add turmeric powder if you want. I like mine white so I did not use turmeric powder. Add milk and cook till the peas are tender. Now add cashew nut paste,malai and cardamom powder. Toss well and add cream cook further for 3-4 minutes.Finally add garam masala and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.e
